Frequently asked questions
The essentials: how LogAgent works, what happens with your privacy, how productivity is measured and what it costs.
General
What is LogAgent?
LogAgent is a local-first app that automatically analyzes your work day: it captures activity signals and turns them into explainable work-state metrics, focus sessions and billable time. Everything is computed offline on your device.
Which platforms are supported?
Windows 10 and 11, macOS and Linux.
Do I need an internet connection?
No. LogAgent works offline by default. A connection is only needed for optional things — like syncing across devices if you turn it on.
Do I need an account?
No. You can use it without signing up — your data is stored locally in a database on your device.
Privacy & data
Where does my data go?
Nowhere. Capture and analytics happen locally. Cloud sync is optional, end-to-end encrypted, and transfers only aggregates — never raw events.
Does LogAgent take screenshots or log keystrokes?
No. It records window and app titles, domains and input counts — never screenshots and never the content of keystrokes.
How does the camera-based health check work?
Processing runs locally via MediaPipe, frame by frame in memory. Frames and video are never stored — only numeric features (posture, fatigue) enter history. You can turn the camera off in one click.
How long is data kept?
Raw events for about 90 days, 5-minute aggregates up to a year, and daily and billable summaries indefinitely. Everything can be exported or deleted.
Tracking & productivity
How is productivity determined?
Activity is merged into work sessions and sorted into three buckets: productive (≥ 0.70), neutral (0.40–0.70) and distracting (< 0.40). Day score = (productive + neutral × 0.5) ÷ active time.
Do I have to start timers manually?
No. LogAgent captures time automatically and attributes it to projects using rules and signals. No manual timers needed.
Can I fix a wrong classification?
Yes. Any disputed segment can be corrected, and the system learns from your edits to classify more accurately next time.
AI, code & git
Does LogAgent track AI usage?
Yes. It measures sessions, tokens and cost for Claude Code, Codex CLI and Cursor — without reading prompt content.
How is git read?
Read-only, from local metadata: commits, churn and the share of AI-assisted commits. Your code content never leaves the device.
Pricing & license
How much does it cost?
14 days free, no card. After that it's $9/mo, $79/yr, or a one-time $179 Lifetime license. Your data stays on your device on every plan.
What's included in Lifetime?
A one-time payment with no subscription and perpetual access to the version you bought, including all updates within that major version.
How do I get support?
